Literature Text

It’s the next morning, and we're on Felicity Island. The rain has stopped and the dew is sparkling. We close up on the sun sparkling down on the town. We see gardens filled with flowers, shopfronts and trees and people opening their windows. We see a close up of Jason’s home and his bedroom window as the beams of the sunrise shines down on his face. He is wearing his safari hat over his face, then wakes up, with the hat still on his face, then he notices the sun. Jason looks up out the window, as he tilts his head, his safari hat flips up and reveals his face.

Jason: *Yawns* Good morning, Felicity!

Jason: Hey! Felicity! Did you hear me?

Felicity: Yep! Morning Jason!

Felicity walks away down the sidewalk and Jason takes a deep, calming breath.

Jason: And good morning Felicity Isle!

Jason gets out of bed and stretches with a smile.

Jason: Another day, another opportunity opens up!

Jason gets dressed quickly. He puts on his vest, shirt, bandanna, pants and shoes.

Melody: Jason? Are up up? Oh, who am I kidding, of course you are.

Jason’s Mother, Melody is wearing a blue and navy kimono top and a blue headband. She opens the door and greets her son.

Jason: Yep, always up with the sun! Mornin’ Mom!

Melody: Excited for today, Jason?

Jason: Yes! And I’m ready to take on the day!

Melody: (Giggles) Well, someone’s in a happy mood today. Just remember, you promised you’d be back for today’s feastival by six. Kay?

Jason: Okay! And besides, like I would forget about the Festival of the Muse. It’s the most amazing festival of the summer! Well, at least my favorite.

Melody: Are you taking Amelia?

Jason: Yep! We got the whole day planned out. But first up…

Melody: Adventure?

Jason: Yep, always!

Melody: Don’t you ever want to take it easy for once? Relax, play something and not go off into the forest all alone and...

Jason: But Mom, we have to explore! If we don’t, we won't ever be real explorers when we grow up or find cool stuff or...

Melody: I get it, I get it...You want to be a brave adventurer when you grow up.

Jason: Yes! Me and Amelia! Traveling the world! Find treasure! Fight monsters! Never giving up...

Melody: Whoa, whoa! Slow down, Jason! Your mouth is running faster than your feet!

Jason: Sorry. I got carried away…

Melody: It's alright. Just be back home in time for the festival...With clean clothes, please.

Jason: Oh, he he! Right. I promise! Amelia too!

Melody: Okay, just make sure you have breakfast first.

Jason: Promise!

Jason: I wonder when Amelia’s coming…

We cut to Amelia’s home, with her waking up as well. Messy brown hair covers her face. She brushes out of the way and looks out the window. A bluebird lands on her windowsill and starts singing a song. Amelia hums along. The bluebird sings louder. Then Amelia sings higher, lighter and prettier, as the bluebird stands in awe with his mouth hanging open and face in shock. Then poops for dumb comedy.

Amelia: Ahahahahaaa~~~!!!

The bird sticks it tongue out in mockery and flies away. Amelia gets out of bed.

Amelia: Don’t hate me because I’m awesome.

Amelia starts to put on her dress, jacket and boots. She sits at her vanity and brushes her hair.

Amelia:
The Festival of the Muse...Oh, I can’t wait for tonight. But first thing’s first, exploration, excitement and adventure! This is going to be a fantastic day!

Kamil: Amelia...Kid, are you up? Am...Amelia? Ugh...

Amelia: Yes, Dad, I’m up.

Kamil, Amelia’s father, comes up and opens Amelia’s bedroom door. Kamil is wearing a purple hat and coat. He looks tired and is hanging on the side Amelia's door.

Kamil: Good morning, Am...Amelia.

Amelia: Morning, Dad. How are you feeling today?

Kamil: Mmm...Amelia I’m, I’m just fine, alright. Don’t w-worry so much.

Amelia: I was worried about you. You came home late last night, I saw your lantern light from my window…Were you out again, Daddy?

Kamil: Wha..? Heck, no..I’m just fine…

Amelia: Then what were you doing outside last night?

Kamil: Um...I was, um...I was out, cause...I left the oven on. Outside. In the middle of the night.

Amelia: Dad! You were out at the tavern last night, weren't you? You told me you would stop!

Kamil: It-it was my last one, I, I swear!

Amelia: Oh, really? Somehow I don’t believe you.

Kamil: P-P-Promise!

Amelia: Even at tonight’s festival?

Kamil: Yes. Not at the festival. Not ever again.

Amelia: Hmm? Are you sure? Tonight's festival had lots of tasty drinks...

Kamil: Uh, um..No, no no.

Amelia: Succulent, sweet, sparkling drinks...All for an affordable price at the festival...Tonight.

Kamil: Ugh...Ugh! No! Amelia, stop that! I promise I won't, like, at all! Nothing tonight, I swear!

Amelia: Good. Your one step closer to a better life for both of us.

Amelia pecks Kamil on the cheek and she walks downstairs.

Amelia: That makes me feel a whole lot better.

Kamil: Uh, oh..Okay. You’re welcome, honey.

We cut back to Jason rushing downstairs. He goes to the kitchen and grabs some fruit. Jason opens the fridge and grabs some milk. As he’s drinking milk, he’s walking around the kitchen grabbing things like apples, cookies and bread buns. He puts on the counter and his mother comes down the stairs.

Melody: Jason, maybe you could slow down a bit?

Jason: Sorry Mom. Can’t slow down. Amelia and me have to get some exploring before the festival!

Melody: But the town square is already being set up. So don’t cause any trouble there, okay?

Jason: Me and Amelia weren't going to go to the town square anyway. We were thinking about going to the Airship Docks. Is that is okay?

Melody: Jason, you know I don’t like it when you go there. The men and women there are busy working, they’ve probably been travelling for a long time. You’ll get in the way.

Jason: But, Mom. We can’t go anywhere else. And Amelia’s Dad says it’s fine.

Melody: Yeah, cause I totally trust Kamil. That man is the most irresponsible person on the whole Island.

Jason: Me and Amelia will be safe, I promise. And a true hero never breaks a promise!

Melody: And true heroes don’t break rules and mess around with other people’s work, right?

Jason: Oh! Ah he he...Yeah. We won’t.

Jason kisses his mother and leaves. We cut to Amelia's home. Amelia is packing a bag, then she hears a knock on the window. Jason is knocking, but when Amelia comes, he quickly runs off to knock the door. Amelia opens the door and sees Jason.

Jason: Amelia! Amelia! Who’s ready for adventure?!

Amelia: You know I always am.

Amelia runs up to high five Jason and the two run off into the woods.

I really like Jason & Amelia's characters here. Eager young Adventures already! Reminds me of Finn & Jake! :D
