Today, we're providing a series of logical and evidence-based answers to stupid questions often asked by anti-LGBTQ+ activists. Their "arguments" often boil down to complaining, stereotyping, or expressing genuine hatred for LGBTQ+ people; the points made by anti-LGBTQ+ activists fall apart with the smallest application of factual evidence, human compassion, and critical thinking skills. Many of their arguments contain various logical fallacies often taught about in media literacy, so it's time to show how easily the most common propaganda statements and conspiracy theories about the LGBTQ+ community and our rights can be debunked.

Being LGBTQ+ is a choice/ideology!”

If being LGBTQ+ is a choice, why would people choose to have a higher risk of things like sexual violence, physical assault, social stigmatization, downright murder, abandonment, and medical issues such as mental health struggles? Also, does this mean being straight and cis are choices? Because by stating gender and sexuality are choices, you also state that heterosexual and cisgender identities are choices as well. We have evidence that being heterosexual and homosexual are not choices. Here are five of the many medical articles of the topic:

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/science/there-is-no-gay-gene-there-is-no-straight-gene-sexuality-is-just-complex-study-confirms

https://www.livescience.com/50058-being-gay-not-a-choice.html

https://www.healthyplace.com/gender/gay/why-are-people-gay-gay-by-choice-or-is-being-gay-genetic

https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/guest-blog/is-homosexuality-a-choice/

https://theconversation.com/stop-calling-it-a-choice-biological-factors-drive-homosexuality-122764

Being LGBTQ+ is not an ideology. Neither is it evil. Because I've, and many others have, seen what anti-LGBTQ+ people do in comparison to LGBTQ+ people. Let's compare:

Anti-LGBTQ+ people:

- Murder people in the streets for being queer

- Endlessly hate on, attack, call for violence upon, and insult queer people

- Have nothing to back up their bigotry but petty feelings and political agendas

- Restrict medical care for all people, not just queer people

- Use their power to control others

- Hate the truth, as seen in their reactions of violence and censorship when shown evidence

LGBTQ+ people: - Help those in trouble, as we relate to the feelings of being outcasted

- Endlessly tolerate, love, and accept people regardless of sexuality or gender

- Have both God and science on our side, as both religion and scientific data support the existence of LGBTQ+ people

- Gives and advocates for medical care to those who need it, not just queer people - Use their power to give freedom to those oppressed

- Embrace the truth

Being gay or transgender is not some “ideological obsession”, because when we observe reality we can see proof of gender fluidity in nature (see Part 4 of Transvaluations below for that topic).

As homophobes claim to be for "factual reality", and yet despite their aversions to my claims, they have no evidence- such as journals or studies- to prove their own claims. Even if my articles are faulty in their eyes, it’s still better than no attempted proof at all. If my studies don’t impress you, where are yours? Remember: one's accusations against the LGBTQ+ community are their own confessions.

“Being LGBTQ+ is a mental illness!”

If being gay or transgender is a mental illness, why then are homophobes so comfortable making fun of, attacking, and taking away the rights of the mentally-ill? Justifying their exclusion from society? Isn't the harassment and portrayal of them as less than human seen as ableist, even support of... eugenics? Someone in support of those would be seen by the majority of society and even the medical community as cruel due to lack of sympathy, demand for removal of support for getting people help, and not allowing them chances at having normal lives. Unlike what some homophobes may say, they are not for the "mentally-ill" getting help, because they only ever seem to bring it up the supposed concern of those with mental disorders in the context of LGBTQ+ people.

People with anxiety, eating, or psychotic disorders? Never talked about by homophobes. Just gay or transgender people. And even then, they ignore the scientists and doctors who tell them that the best way to treat gender dysphoria is to allow the person to transition socially as their preferred gender and that things like sexual and physical abuse of transgender people increase the likeliness of suicide. Evidence down below:

https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/gender-dysphoria/symptoms-causes/syc-20475255

https://www.psychiatry.org/patients-families/gender-dysphoria/what-is-gender-dysphoria

https://whatweknow.inequality.cornell.edu/topics/lgbt-equality/what-does-the-scholarly-research-say-about-the-well-being-of-transgender-people/

A homophobe's idea of "help" for LGBTQ+ people is really just "Make them not queer!" That is called conversion therapy, the practice of trying to use psychological manipulation to change a person's gender or sexuality.

This practice is not only illegal in many places, but has actually been shown multiple times by various medical, psychological, and scientific professionals to have severe damage on physical, mental, and emotional health (especially in kids). Listed below will be scientific the dangers of conversion therapy and the long-term effects of transition. Here are six of the many medical articles of the topic:

https://www.hrc.org/resources/the-lies-and-dangers-of-reparative-therapy

https://news.un.org/en/story/2022/02/1112242

https://www.genderexploratory.com/2023/04/05/how-listening-to-detransitioners-can-help-improve-gender-related-healthcare-services-for-all/

“Some LGBTQ+ people do bad things, therefore all must be punished!”

If being an LGBTQ+ criminal is enough to get an entire sexuality or identity outlawed, why don’t we do the same for straight and cis murders, rapists, etc.? Let’s take transgender shooters, for example. The Gun Violence Archive recorded over 2,840 mass shootings in America since the start of 2018, but only 3 of the estimated 2,840 mass shooters were transgender over the past 5 years: https://www.gunviolencearchive.org/

Trans people are 2% of the general American population, but only were 0.04% of mass shooters. 98% of shooters between 2018 and 2023 were cisgender heterosexual white men. At least 8 transgender/gender non-conforming people have been killed this year, according to the Human Rights Campaign: https://www.hrc.org/search?production_hrcSearch%5Bquery%5D=transgender%20homicides&production_hrcSearch%5Bmenu%5D%5Btype%5D=All%20Results

And according to Everytown for Gun Safety, which tracks data on homicides of transgender people, 35 were killed last year and 60 the year before: https://everytownresearch.org/report/remembering-and-honoring-pulse/

And lastly, according to the William Institute Law School and Science Advances, LGBTQ+ people are 4 times more likely to be the victim of violent crimes than straight/cis people: https://williamsinstitute.law.ucla.edu/press/ncvs-lgbt-violence-press-release/

That's 103 total transgender homicides in the past 3 years.

...So, 103 transgender people killed in homicides in the past 3 years isn't genocide, but 3 shooters being transgender those same 3 years is a "rise in transgender violence" and a call to "stop LGBTQ+ extremists" by removing all LGBTQ+ rights, including those of children, parents, and other marginalized groups at risk?

Also, a majority of the people who call for violence to all LGBTQ+ people because of a minority of LGBTQ+ extremists are, ironically but but surprisingly, extremists themselves: reactionaries, “anti-woke” internet cultures, religious cultists, fascists, Neo Nazis, etc. These are the same groups of people who cheered and said the victims "deserved it for being gay" when the LGBTQ+ nightclub known as Club Q in Colorado Springs was shot-up and 7 LGBTQ+ people were killed. Anti-LGBTQ+ activists claimed that because the club hosted "all-ages drag shows", it was justification for their murder, but it was not true. The drag show was not implied at all to be sexual in nature- in fact, the "all-ages" terminology in LGBTQ+ events is often used to signal a non-sexual event- and the club was adults-only, so there couldn't be children at the event. Many anti-LGBTQ+ activists claimed on newspapers, online forums, and TV that they would not be praying for the victims or their families due to their LGBTQ+ status. There was even a rumor started by the far-right that the man who shot up the club was a transgender drag queen, but it was later proven that the shooter was a religious extremist who was told by his pastor to kill LGBTQ+ people. The shooter later tried to identify as non-binary in court to further the rumor to negatively impact the public's impression of LGBTQ+ people, according to his lawyer. However, the shooter's family, friends, and neighbors confirmed that the shooter's non-binary status wasn't authentic and was only used to escape justice. But justice won, as he was sentenced to prison for life in 2022: https://www.reuters.com/legal/suspect-plead-guilty-2022-mass-shooting-colorado-gay-nightclub-2023-06-26/

...But the 7 victims of this shooting got no justice from the media or political figures: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cw4aAzjEWPo&feature=youtu.be

The dogmatic defenders of this anti-LGBTQ+ doctrine are the exact same people who clapped and cheered when Brianna Ghey, a British 16-year-old transgender girl, was killed. Brianna was murdered by two other teenagers at a park in broad daylight on February 12th, 2023. In YouTube videos and articles covering her murder, you can see these same reactionaries flooding the comment sections with dead-naming, misgendering, accusations, victim-blaming, and even celebrating this 16-year-old’s murder. People were creating mocking and insulting comments on news coverage of the literal murder of a child: https://odysee.com/@AnOdyseeOfRainbows:9/Y2Mate.is---Talking-about-Brianna-Ghey-a2C2qoQNxjU-1080p-1660097972585:7

Not even two weeks later on February 22nd, 2033, another murder happened. The murder of Zachee Imanitwitaho, a transgender immigrant woman, occurred in Butchertown near the meat-packing plant where she worked. People in the comment sections of the tragedy’s news coverage began to blame Zachee for being transgender, saying it the reason she “deserved” to get killed. The far-right also began rumors of Zachee being a prostitute or having an affair with the man who killed her, putting sexist and racist stereotypes onto Zachee in order to make her murder appear justified: https://odysee.com/@AnOdyseeOfRainbows:9/Y2Mate.is---Transgender-immigrant-identified-as-victim-in-deadly-Butchertown-shooting-aobXTuCm0Co-1080p-1654408824873:c

A vast majority of the transgender people killed in 2023 were black women: Danyale Thompson, Ke’Yahonna Stone, Nikai David, Dede Ricks, Duval Princess, Tasiyah Woodland (who was only 18 at the time of her death) and many others. Reactionaries don't care about “protecting” anyone, be it children or women. They care about hating LGBTQ+ people and seeking to eradicate them from the past, present, and future. This is the reality of bigotry and the ideologies it partners with. This is what homophobes want: the cold, cruel, and unsympathetic deaths of innocent people (mostly children and women of color). When homophobes call for the removal of LGBTQ+ rights, they want THIS to be the end result. They want all LGBTQ+ people to end up like Brianna Ghey, Zachee Imanitwitaho, Tasiyah Woodland, and all these other victims.

You're a repulsive person if you support these genuine hate crimes in any way (and if some homophobe out there doesn't think these are hate crimes, replace the victims with straight/cis people in your head and think again). Be you trying to make excuses for these tragedies or shifting the blame onto the victims, know that you wish for a world where those who disagree with you are killed. A world where those who reject the roles and stereotypes you arbitrarily assign to them are killed. A world where those who live, act, or think differently are killed. And a world where no one, not even in their purest and most innocent, is safe from a hateful death. And that is borderline dictatorial.

I just want to say bless all of you: from casual fan to dearest friend, bless every last one of you. Rainbow Heart [Free to use] This past year has been a wild ride of tearful, terrifying, and terrific memories. And many of those memories are thanks to all of you! Not only am I a better artist because of all of you, but I'm a better person because of all of you. My birthday means more than me aging: it means a bright new beginning for a brighter Claire. After all, the name Claire itself is a feminine form of the Latin name Clarus, which means "clear", "bright", and or "famous". And Aimée, my middle name, means "beloved" in French. And I feel that I want to live up to that name. Not in the sense that I want to be beloved and famous (though I certainly do), but in the sense I want to bring clarity to life, shine bright by myself yet help others shine too, and let others know that they are loved by both me and God no matter the lies their stormy hearts tell them and that rainbows will always spring after even the darkest rain. And I want to help people unlock that rainbow within.

I want to give my deepest and most grateful thanks to the wonderful presents gifted to me by my beautiful fairies. God bless your hearts, each and every one of you, for your bottomless generosity. Your compassion and selflessness is inspiring to me (and I hope others too!) And I pray you never lose the unique sparkle you bring to this world. Thank you to JC1234TheToonist, Faye, CactusFlavoredMilk, Robert, Gianmarco, Ronald, Rebecca, and Ash for all your gorgeous gifts!

There is always more to learn for all of us. We never stop growing even as "grown-ups." I used to hate the person I was: I was lost in fear, anger, and confusion. But it's because of your guiding lights illuminating the entire night sky that I thrive. I couldn't be here without your forgiveness and your sunlight giving the once lonely bud a reason to blossom. Jesus linked love and forgiveness inextricably in His encounter with the woman who washed His feet with perfume at the dinner party: “Whoever has been forgiven little loves little.” If we realized just how many sins Jesus has forgiven for us, we would not be so quick to judge others. And with your unwavering selfless love and mercy, I wish to only return the favor to everyone I meet.

The greatest gift you could give to me on my birthday is the oath to never stop believing in goodness. It's unbeatable and ever-present even in the face of great evil. You can find goodness in a freshly-baked cookie, a lilypad in a pond, an interesting book, or a smile on a face. Because where you find goodness, you will find your destiny. What your heart values most is where you'll find yourself. If your heart values justice, mercy, and charity, then those virtues will represent who you are and what you give to this world with your own beautiful existence. Your dreams DO and CAN and WILL come true! As long as you're willing to keep fighting for what you believe in, it can and will happen!

...So what do you want your life to stand for?

As for me, I want my birthday to be a reminder of what I stand for: endless love, for everything and everyone here.

Thank you all for these wonderful 21st birthday wishes, and have a fairy fabulous day.

Last Sunday, as the dawn of my 21st birthday soon arrives, all I wanted from my parents was a new dog after our old friend of 10 years, Grommit, is planned to be put down due to terrible health. However, I'm fortunate enough to where it appears that Grommit's euthanization might come after my birthday. So instead of a new dog, I asked my parents for a different gift: to start attending church. I feel like my current methods of trying to connect with God aren't working very well.

My mother, a staunch atheist who was a victim of abuse in the church, was adamant at first. She was worried about people manipulating me and was worried about the kind of person I could become. But after my father insisted he could take me, she let it be (but she and Dad made me swore to keep my homosexuality a secret.) She also asked her to not preach the Bible at her. I promised my mother (I am a total mama's girl who'll do anything she says) and so me and my father left at 10:30 for the church. The church we attended preached Anglican Christianity, as that was what my father was raised in. My father decided to stay with me for the church session for my comfort and to make sure I didn't do any panicking, even though he doesn't like attending church. I was very grateful for his company, especially since he did this on Father's Day.

I was a bit nervous at first, but my father then pointed out the Pride flag near the door of the church. That made me feel very safe. There was also wheelchair accessible pews and we did a Truth and Reconciliation before the prayers began (as well as offering hymn and prayer books with Aboriginal texts such as Mohawk, Ojibwe, and Cree.) It was a shockingly inclusive environment for such an old community filled up with nothing but elderly white country folks. A musician, an old woman named Anna on an acoustic guitar, played hymns. The live music was lovely and I found the "stuffy old church songs" actually really catchy and pleasant (albeit very repetitive.) I did research on the church before hand. I found out the reverend, named Carolyn, used to work as a librarian at both my preschool and elementary school. She also founded the local farmer's market with her husband Andrew, which I had no idea about. She's also dedicated to social movements; most prolifically the end of violence towards women. To me, she sounded wonderful, and she certainly acted wonderful as well. She greeted us along with other church members. When we entered, we were offered caramels (I took one) and lavender seeds to take home (which I didn't because I didn't know if my gardening mother wanted to grow them.) We were handed a paper pamphlet that outlined the day's schedule : hymns, readings, prayers, etc. There was a lot of paper to keep up with and it was hard to keep switching between reading my booklet which had some pages out of order and three different books of prayer, songs, and saints. It was a bit confusing and without the help of my father to keep organized I might've been prone to a panic attack.

Before we began, Carolyn asked everyone how they were doing. She also announced everyone of things like death anniversaries to pay respects, births of grandchildren, and upcoming birthdays. She asked who was to have their birthday next, to which I shyly raised my hand. I told her I would be 21 on the 28th. To which everyone in church seemed to light up with polite interest and silent "congratulations" or "good for yous." It was nice that these strangers almost didn't feel like strangers at all.

We sung a lot of beautiful songs, and we read two Biblical tales: one was a New Testament story of Romans 5: 1 - 8, and the other was Genesis 18: 1 - 15. A woman at the church just had new grandsons, so Carolyn thought it'd be an appropriate story to tell how Abraham and Sarah had their son Isaac despite being so old. It was a lovely story, and afterwards we got to hear the stories of Jesus' apostles and why some Christians celebrate the saints and how this caused division between different Christian branches. During the gathering, as a special ceremony for both Father's day and the cemetery service they were to hold later for the people who laid to rest in the graves outside. Dad lit a candle for his late father, George. I lit a candle for both my maternal grandfather, Jacques, and my late paternal grandmother whom I never met, Beulah. After a lot more singing and a lot more praying, I felt comfort and happiness.

Before I knew it, church was over. We went to the car, before meeting a few surprising friends. A woman dressed entirely in pink came up to me to gush over my equally-pink outfit, to which we befriended her and the woman (Nancy) and my father started a lovely conversation about how Nancy celebrated her own 21st birthday in Toronto with her father. Before I could join Dad and Nancy, I ran into an old school friend. Well, not "friend" but rather old classmate: Olivia, who sat with me in choir during 11th and 12th grade. We caught up, with her talking about doing police studies at college while I was trying my hands at modeling/acting. And thus, after one amazing hour, me and my father went home.

I've felt closer to God since that day, to the point where I swear I see castle towers in the clouds. I look forward to my next visit to God's kingdom...

Today's topic is about transgender surgeries, medical procedures, drugs, and other healthcare that LGBTQ+ people receive while debunking the dangerous rumors against such practices. Is transgender surgery really as "mutilating" as it's presented in the media and by politicians? Not at all!

How people medically transition isn’t as easy as one thinks. First, you contact your doctor and you talk about your health history and your fertility concerns. Your doctor will explain all of your options to you to help you pick the right treatments for you. There’s pills, creams, injections, patches, you name it! But hormone therapy typically doesn’t start until at least the age of 16, because there are side effects that purposefully reduce the masculine or feminine features of a person that do concern some people. For example, taking hormone replacement can reduce sexual drive. Transwomen will have their testicles shrink and get less erections. But their hips will get bigger, their skin gets smoother, and their facial hair will decrease. As for fertility concerns, people usually people freeze their sperm or eggs before the treatment if they want to have biological kids. There are some risks to *HRT (*hormone replacement therapy) including blood clots, weight gain, heart problems, high blood pressure, etc. These can be reduced however with medical assistance by doctors. Most trans people begin on puberty blockers when they’re young so they can live as their preferred gender to see if HRT is the next step for them or if they feel that gender transition isn't for them. For really young people, like preteens with gender dysphoria. It usually starts at social transitioning, where no medical intervention is used. It’s usually just a name, pronoun, and clothing change. They start living as the opposite gender to see if they’re really trans or not, and if they are trans, they usually get puberty blockers around or before puberty starts so that they won’t have to go through the puberty of the body they don’t want. Like, imagine a trans man going through all this effort to present as masculine as possible, only to get your period or grow boobs. It’d be mortifying. I think that trans people should get sex-changes if they want, because it makes them mentally healthier. Denying them that will mean they'll inevitably fall into deep depression.

Also, being trans isn’t a “recent thing” either: https://www.moms.com/trans-kids-not-new-phenomenon-explains-professor/

“Is surgery mutilation?”

Surgery is not “mutilation.” If that was the case, we would ban people from getting broken legs fixed, getting face jobs, and doing any type of dissecting and rearranging of the body. Things like plastic surgery, reconstructive mammoplasty, and testicular implants are common for both transgender and non-transgender patients. So why is there only a taboo, if not outright ban, for one group of people from getting these procedures? …Oh, I get it. It’s only bad when minorities get privileges majorities have.

“What happens during genital surgery? Do they chop your penis off?”

That is an oversimplification. Vaginoplasty as a surgery rather flips genitals “inside-out” and reshapes penises and vaginas rather than removing them. It is also used on non-transgender women to repair vaginal injury due to childbirth and to help pelvic floor disease complications. Spironolactone is the main testosterone blocker used for trans women, but in some cases it is also used for treating high blood pressure in cis women too. Transphobes complain about consenting adults getting these surgeries and spreading the myth of children under the age of 18 years old getting these surgeries (even though children do not receive these procedures), yet I’ve never seen a single transphobe advocate the banning of circumcision, which is literally the surgical removal of the skin on the tip of the penis on newborn boys. That is a non-consensual altercation of a child’s genitals. Where’s the outcry for circumcision, though? Where’s the demand for the government banning circumcision? Because it’s for cisgender people, there is no outcry. But often corrupt politicians and phony scientists will often tout the lie of transgender children being the only ones receiving gender affirming surgeries. But again, children do not get gender affirming surgeries until they are over the age of 18. The only bottom surgery that is being done on minors without their consent is on intersex babies to make them conform to societal sex norms. These nonconsensual sex surgeries on intersex people can lead to medical problems later in life and that is why it’s important for people of all ages to have bodily autonomy.

“What are puberty blockers?”

“Puberty blocker medications contain stable amounts of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) analogs, which help suppress sex hormones like testosterone and estrogen. Once these hormones are “blocked,” the physical changes that would occur during puberty are paused.” - Cleveland Clinic

Puberty blockers are basically used to- not stop- but pause the effects of puberty in children. A puberty blocker is a short-term solution to children experiencing gender dysphoria or precocious puberty. It stops the process for as long as a child is using the medication. Once usage stops, puberty will resume. Puberty blockers are administered by a healthcare provider through injections or an implant that goes under the skin. In order for puberty blockers to keep working, injections must be received monthly or every few months, and implants have to be replaced yearly. They’ve even been used to treat conditions like prostate cancer, breast cancer and endometriosis. Negative side effects are both minimal and easily reversible. Bone density is a concern because puberty blockers decrease bone mineral density that hinder bone growth. Once a child goes off of a puberty blocker, the bone mineral density increases. Doctors use an increase of vitamin D and calcium to help combat this. Rashes, headaches, and weight gain are also concerns: nothing fatal or uncurable. Studies have shown that it can drastically improve the mental health of young people. They also used puberty blockers on kids that have developed breast cancer, as it stops the cancer from growing along with breast tissue. The American Academy of Pediatrics showed that transgender teens who were able to receive puberty blockers experienced superior mental health outcomes when compared with those who wanted the medication but did not receive it.

“Does this mean they’re giving kids drugs?”

No one is giving kids irreversible/untested drugs. Puberty blockers have been used for decades prior on kids with minimal side effects such as weight gain and headaches (which were easily atoned for with proper medical assistance and responsible usage). Puberty blockers are reversible and can be stopped at any time. My adult transgender friend, Diana, is in her 50s. She still must take hormone replacement and puberty blockers. If she stops taking them, she will revert back to male puberty even as a grown adult. It’s reversible even in adulthood. Hormone therapy replaces puberty with the opposite sex's puberty, while puberty blockers simply pause it. These treatments are not even given to adults without heaps of therapy visits and doctor's notes, much less kids. Unlike what anti-LGBTQ+ media claims, it's not easy to get access to trans medical care, especially for kids and teens. The process can take months, even years, to even get approved for puberty blockers. These treatments aren't given out to anyone who asks; it takes a lot of effort to even confirm that these treatments might help others. The people giving these gender affirming treatments as well as the receivers do know the risks and are willing to take it. And just because some people see it as too big a risk, doesn't mean we should ban people from using them. Driving a car increases chances of death, but we don't ban people from driving. Even with the risks attached, these drugs have been proven to help a lot of people with mental health issues, body dysphoria, and depression. I do believe we should be giving these treatments to the people who truly need it, even if they are young if they have the evidence to deserve it.

Cross-gender behaviors can begin as early as 2 years old, which is the start of the developmental period in which children begin expressing gendered behaviors and interests. Early-onset gender dysphoria typically starts in childhood and continues into adolescence and adulthood; late-onset gender dysphoria, on the other hand, occurs around puberty or much later in life. This is according to Psychology Today:

If a child is so severely depressed or troubled due to struggles with being LGBTQ+, then it’s time to accept the truth that the kid is LGBTQ+, and has to get help to accept themselves as a queer person. Mental harm is extremely serious, even deadly. And some treatments for mental harm is physical change, like gender transitioning. Even during the transitional period for children, children aren’t allowed hormones or surgeries until the age of 18. The most they’re given are reversible puberty blockers and this period of time is mostly reserved for social transition (new name, clothes, pronouns, etc.) If the child discovers that they are not transgender, they can return to their previous gender identity by stopping the social transitions and puberty blockers.
